Just got this new photo in. Can anyone see whats wrong with it?

The photo appears to show him wearing Heer Beamte style shoulder boards. It may be a trick of the lighting. He is also wearing an EM style cap eagle and cockade.

That's what I am also thinking. But the lighting on the collar tabs and sleeve eagle is showing shadows so it's difficult to really say for certain.

George is correct with the shoulder boards, looks like he might be wearing customs shoulder boards without the HV. Is there any regulations for police in the customs??, maybe an ex customs officer? or just personal preference?

I think there´s nothing wrong with this photo, except the fact, that it seems to be re-colored or a copy of a re-colored photo. I saw this several times before.

The Heer Beamte boards would normally have the HV cyphers while the Customs boards have the RFV cyphers. They certainly do look like Heer Beamte boards with two pips from the closeup. I have actually seen this before on a Heer style (active service Police green with French cuffs and collar of the same color as the tunic) Verwaltungs Polizei tunic that had Heer Beamte shoulder boards sewn into the seams. They also had no cyphers. I see this guy is a WWI vet with his 1914 IC 1st Class so perhaps he was a retread admin guy?

Seldom seen on Police Pickelhauben are leather chinstraps!! Very unique are the spikes for this kind of Pickelhauben (see example of a "normal" one out of my collection)

Maybe a special Equipment/helmet only for Flensburg Gendarmen.
