Gerd, It seems like it wasn’t all that long ago when you started this thread but sure enough, it was June of 2008. How time flies.
When a person seriously looks at it, this thread has turned into one amazing collection, study, & history of polizei uniforms, especially of the pre-Reich era! Where else does one find this! Well done and what a superb collection you haveInterested in the Gendarmerie - Schutzpolizei - Gemeinden - Feuerschutzpolizei - Wasserschutzpolizei - Etc. Looking For Anything Polizei Related!

I noticed, that I have to bring 2015 more "foreign flair" in this thread.
...in the meantime I still wait for all those thousends TR related Police portraits you have in your collections to show!
However, foreign flair.........from 1871 to 1918 Elsass-Lothringen became part of the German Kaiserreich. In Germany called "Reichslande". Very complicated history over more than thousend years. To tell long things short, E.-L. was 47 years part of the Kaiserreich.
The organisation/uniforms of the Police forces were very close to the Prussians. Normally only the coat of arms were different (Kaiser eagle ./. Prussian eagle)
First a member of the Schutzmannschaft located in the Reichslande (btw. most members came out of Berlin!)
