BTW -
here I have a very interesting photo from my private collection :
German "Schifftechnischer Wasserzollbeamter" (maybe ethnic German or Czech) serving as a Zoll-interpreter for Czech language, note the ultrarare cufftitle "Česky" (Czech/Tschechisch).
It´s probably a pre-war photo -
note the shield with anchors on the sabre, RFV-Zollbetriebsassistent boards, tschako (?) placed on the table, and old style of collar tabs.
If I'm wrong, please correct me someone.Attached Files

Kuratorium. Thank you very much for posting the rank chart !!!! I'm working on a book idea , it's line drawings of all the third reich rank insignia. collar tabs , shoulder boards, & any rank related armbands. have a lot done , but tons to go. I'm doing it close to full scale size.
some of the different services are tough to hunt down , OR get confusing , with changes over the years. Again thanks !! jeff

KURATORIM,
can You post detail of shoulder board of that man?
Due to collar patches I think this photo was taken sometimes in 34-37, before occupation of Czechoslovakian republic...

Collar patches for zoll generals posted by kuratorim were valid to end of year 1940. After that ( exact date is not known to me) they were changed to another pattern...
Rank insignia & charts of RFV-men is a little complicated matter - some of them can You see here:

Unfortunately is this close up not sharp enough, therefore is quite possible that instead of letters RFV are on the boards positioned crossed anchors, similar as on the saber...Attached Files

Thank for posting...
Have a problem with uniform of this man ... after my opinion he wear an uniform of Weimar Sachsische Landgendarmerie - blouse without breast pockets, dark cuffs, shoulder boards ( http://lbsr.mzf.cz/dr/sf/sf1.html#v1a1
These form of collar patches - Litzenspiegel - was worn by Reichsfinanzverwaltung only from 1934-37 and in this time they wore classic blouse - Rock - with breast pockets ans so-called "Roll" cuffs in color of blouse.
Wasserzollbeamte normally wore dark blue jacket (only in summer they could wore browngreen blouse after Landzollbeamten cut...)
For uniform of RFV see for example http://lbsr.mzf.cz/forum/Z_1.jpg
From left to right: ZGS in new (1937 regulations) uniform, Czechoslovakian Gendarm, ZGS in old (1934 regulations) uniform - summer blouse, ZGS in old uniform (1934 regs). All ZGS have new (1937 regs) shoulder boards.
For old (1934 regs)shoulder boards see http://lbsr.mzf.cz/dr/rfv/dg_1.html. From 1934 to 1937 were eagles om shoulder board with swastika...
