            Ehrenurkunde Olympiade Berlin !!!

            Hi,

Last fall I had the opportunity to have one of the rarest items of the 1936 Berlin Olympics in my hands. The original honorary diploma awarded to IOC president count De Baillet-LATOUR (who lived approx. 800 meters away from where I live!!!)

A unique piece of the highest historical value and in superb condition.

Sadly I had to let this bird fly...after having taken care of it for about 4 weeks

            Enjoy!

                Olympic vase & bell

A couple of new Olympic items I recently got. The vase has lost much of its gold leaf around the rim but still displays well.

                  A collecting bell

A nice porcelain bell, often these have the base removed, but this one is intact.

I've always looked for porcelain related to the 36 olympics but never to my good fortune have I found any. I'm probably dreaming and if there is any, it's probably fake!

Porcelain pieces tend to be well marked on the underside, which gives some piece of mind. The vase was made by Echt Tuppack Tiefenfurt and has the ink transfer "Genehmigung vom Propaganda Ausschuss der olympischen Spiele 1936" on the base also.

Although I was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen this is only the 2nd time I found something related to the games: 44 visitor-pins in original cardboard-box, priced at RM 2.50 each - I got the whole lot much cheaper...

                                1936 Olympic Pin

My Dad went to the stadium during the month following the surrender at the end of WWII and there was still a vendor selling the white enamel and gold monument pin with the olympic rings at the site. He bought a couple of the pins and sent them home to my Mom. I guess the people involved continue to sell items war or not.
