Randy, the thing above the headkight is a Notek light, a blackout/night convoy light. Very much funtional, it reduced the amount of light visible from above.

I would like sme help with the type identity of some trucks, mostly, if not all, French. Here are the first 2, one is obviously a Latil, but what model, and is the rear track narrower than the front, or are the rear wheels missing/
        Thanks,
        Kerry.

And now some full-track tractors and a truck, which I first thought to be a White 704, but the headlights look to be in the wrong place?
          Thanks again,
          Kerry.

Lastly, what I take to be a halftrack.

              Hi Kerry:

For the moment I can only say I agree with your ID of the White 704.

And, yes, the headlamps are in the wrong location.

They should be mounted on the two horizontal pedestals you can still see
on the sides of the grille mask.

On the other hand, the brush guard is also missing so perhaps the truck
was involved in an accident and this was just a simpler way of putting the
              headlamps back on.

I am still looking for information on the Latil vehicles but have no positive
              ID yet.

              Cheers
              Bill

These seem to be captured in France?
