This provisory cemetary was very close the village of Esperia, nearly 20 km west from Cassino. It is possible to see other color shots on LIFE web-archive.

Recently got 3 more pictures from a pen pal in the US, they look to be
period originals.

No.1 casualty in france, in one of the following winters.

3. Full shot of the previous burial ground.
I was going to ask if in Afrika / Italy, but by coincidemce, picture
13 of the Pz Reg 7/ Afrika thread currently running, shows the same or
very similiar condtruction.

Wery well prepared with tiled mounds and quality markers showing
branch insignia.

Centre one is a H.G. man, of course burial took place away from battle
grounds, but can anyone tell me where the unit was on his DOD.
