I guess....but more likely just a perfect example of the LWFD/Heer Transitional period.

I usually wouldn't post a DC in a photos thread, but this one has a nice photo and is interesting. The Volksbund report actually gives his unit Info, IDing him as being from 15. Lw. Fd. He died in a field hospital in Pokrovskoye, but Im assuming mortally wounded from the heavy fighting around Taganrog at that time. Luftwaffen-Feld-Division 15. lost so many troops at Taganrog that the Division was disbanded.

SS smock?

Hi Bill, great additions as ever.

In post 709 - "LWFD soldiers working on replacing track for their armored vehicle" there is a man lying down with his hand supporting his head. Is he wearing an SS pattern 'Plane tree' camouflage smock or do my eyes deceive me? IF that were the case, could they possibly be HG Div??

Yes he is wearing SS camo smock and it is possible HG Div but I cannot say for sure.
