thanks
Thanks a lot. I bought this one among others,
just because this uncommon "nazi salute", you know.
It is special and weird to see this salute in a US POW camp.
(notice the censured stamp in the back...)
Maybe at this time (22.8. 44 on the back as well), some prisonners still thought that Germans would win the war...

Niko...it is common knowledge there were a number of ardent Nazi's among the POW's throughout the various Camps in the USA but they were not the majority but held a certain power over the rest of the POW's. There were several incidents of POW's being killed by these groups within the Camps because they collaborated and spoke out against the war and Hitler. Some of these Nazi's were executed after the war.

It has been quite some time since I picked up any new photos and posted any here in one of my threads. I recently acquired what I believe is a German Panzermann POW small portrait photo. He wearing standard army/Heer shoulder boards and no breast eagle which leads me to believe he is a POW.Attached Files

I have many photos, letters, etc. from another POW who was at Camp Vernet, France. Unfortunately, none while he was in captivity. I do have this booklet printed by the YMCA, published to help German soldiers in their return home. Has anybody seen one of these before? I haven't been able to find any other examples. --Kevin

Kevin...I believe I've seen that that on German Ebay years ago while searching for POW photos.
Here is something I came across and just recently received. 21st Army Group leaflet (Merkblatt) 105 for Landarbeit (Farm work) of German Prisoners of War published in May 1945. 21st Army Group was Commanded by Field Marshall Montgomery
