Won this one a couple of months ago - seems like an MNH-built Panther with camouflage carried onto the spare track stowage (unusual, if it was done at the factory) No idea as to location or either US or German units:

      Bill,

As others have pointed out, this is Tiger 221 of the SPzAbt 504. My dad and his crew of the 752nd Tank Bn knocked this Tiger out at very close range on 1 July 1944. Daniele Guglielmi and I wrote a very detailed article about this action several years ago. This is an image of 221 that I had not seen before. It was taken some time after the action, after its track had been removed to facilitate towing off the main road to a location a few blocks away.

      Thanks for posting,

      Bob Holt

Hello Bill, nice photo and good to see you're picking up your Panzer posts again.

Considering the numbers it's a PzLehr Panther. Because it is an Ausf.G, it probably is a post invasion reinforcement. For now I'm guessing Paris as the location. However the fighting in Paris (and August '44 as a whole) is not my forte.

It's been awhile since I've posted on this thread but I recently picked up a large photo grouping of a GI in a Tank Destroyer Unit of the 3rd Army on E-Stand. I've posted some photos in my other threads of a German surrender on the POW thread and a couple on the War Trophy thread.

                              Hey Mike,

It's been quite some time since I heard from you. Still busy working?? I would have thought you have retired by now. Are you still actively collecting...send me a PM.

I will be heading out to the SOS Wednesday morning with Bill Huber.
