I've been digging around and my only guess is on the Kriegs guy being Willenbrock.

a u boat captain just doing his job!does that make EVERY soldier who was in the german army navy airforce a nazi???? by that logic only really crap solider sailers airmen etc where not nazis!would i be right?

I can't say it much better than that. Toward the very end of my military career Clinton was president, that didn't make me a Democrat....

haven't I read somewhere that even if topp et al were party members, they had to suspend this when joining the armed forces?
of course swearing a personal loyalty oath to your cdr. in chief gives new meaning to 'just doing your job' (like ya had a choice?), and is more than slightly different than any american prez's party affiliation. world's apart in fact.
