I find the transition from 1941 to 1944 interesting, especially the non-standard uniform shirt in the 1944 portrait!

            All:

            A portrait of Kurt Lilleike.

Born 30 march 1913, Mr. Lilleike began his life at sea aboard the two-masted sailing schooner HANS JOHANN in March 1930. He then sailed as a merchant seaman raising from 4th Officer, to 3rd Officer to 2nd officer in the Steuermann's career.

in 1938, he was called to Kriegsmarine reserve duty. He completed some required training events and was then commissioned as a Leutnant zur See (S) and released to return to merchant service aboard MS CLARE HUGO STINNES.

He served aboard several anti U-boat and minesweeping vessels remaining mostly in Norway throughout the war. He rose to the rank of Kapitänleutnant.

He spent from 1945 until 1948 in Allied captivity.

After returning to Germany, Mr. Lilleike returned to merchant service as 1st Officer and later as Captain of merchant ships from the Hamburger Reederei I.E. Mathies und der Ahltmann Transcaribean-Reederei.

Hope you enjoy the short history.

                Catisky:

Great collection of photos you have! A very small niche' you seem to collect--much like mine!

Next up. For everyone's consideration--several portraits of crewmen from one small Kriegsmarine boat.

Two more portraits. Typed wrong rank for Bootsmannsmaat Müller-Schwefel. Low attention to detail at such a late hour!
