          Good day gents,

I would like to ask following question: it is referring post #72 and #73.

Both are known individuals. Both are wartime photos. Both were taken in the same location (the chair is the same) and most probably by the same photographer. Both are Admirals. And: both are officers are temporarily absent from service (or how we call it in German: "im Beurlaubtenstand"). At least this is what the bar under the shoulder strap is meaning to my knowledge. So my question is now: when Dönitz has been temporary decommisioned from service during wartime?

          Hope somebody can help me.

          Rgds

          Daniel

              Hi Cat,

Nice photo you show us here, and the back of the photo says :

              Foto BAM
              Nieuwe Binnenweg 221
              Telefoon 34853
              Rotterdam (Holland / The Netherlands).

The name of the shop / photographer was "Bam, atelier voor moderne fotografie" in short stamped with "Foto BAM".

The owner of that shop was Hartog Bamberger, born in Groningen 31.1.1896, died 5.11.1958 in Rotterdam.

In 1924 he worked for photographer van Oudgaarden in Rotterdam.
Some wartime van Oudgaarden photos, including Kriegsmarine here :
              http://www.nederlandsfotomuseum.nl/i...=92&perpage=36

In 1925 he worked for photographer Bleuzé in Rotterdam, and married Bleuzé's daughter Albertina in 1926.

Van Oudgaarden and Bleuzé were specialized in portrait and industrial photos.

His shop under the name BAM is first mentioned in the address book of Rotterdam in 1926.

BAM comes from his sure name Bamberger.

              Thanks for showing your photo.

              yours friendly

              Eric-Jan

                              Hello Larrister,
I have an image of the same wedding . I bought it by his Spanish Cross.
But they seemed to be happier in my photo

My photo must have been taken between smiles.
Looks like the wedding couple made several copies to give to friends and family.

                                Cheers,
