Fotis, I can read "bei Kadrina". There is a place called Kadrina in Russia, it could be that one.

Always glad to help if I can! But I will need some help myself, too!

I can read "Mit de(n?) Doppel...(?) auf zum ???-??? 1942"

The third word must have to do with a two horse drawn cart, but can't get the whole of it all, as well as the place's name, which I 'm pretty sure is a russian one.

Hi, thanks to your quick reply I have found out some more about him, his name was Muntau as you suggested and

Muntau, Gottfried, 16.08.1942, Hptm., III./Schtz.Rgt. 115 as part of 15th panzer div, awarded DKiG

also awarded the Commendation Certificate of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, on the 05.09.1942 (1181), Hptm., Btl.Fhr. I./Pz.Gren.Rgt. 115

also later with LVI panzer corps as IA and with rank of Major, july to dec 44.

German field post (page 1 -2)

Hi, just got this in the mail today!
It is a German letter - field post
It is quite a long letter and it came with the original envelope.
It neatly written... and it will be quite easy to translate, I think and hope...
The problem is that I am not that good in German ...
So I was wondering if anybody could translate this letter for me?
I would appreciate it !
The letter is written on 4 pages..

The envelope has the field post number and I know this:

June 7 1940
Batterie 66 was located in Vikene bei Haugesund, Norway with 6* 15.5cm k 416 (f) cannons.

Thanks for the missing words Gerdan! I didn't read the last word as "Empfang"! That word in front of it is a really tricky one... Can't make any plausible combinations that could at least result to a guess...

Ja, es wird wohl noch eine Zeitlang dauern, denn wir müssen erst mindestens 1/4 Jahr in der Komp.(anie) sein, bis wir in die Urlaubsliste eingereicht werden. Im Laufe des Sommers glaube ich aber doch damit rechnen zu können, wir müssen die Zeit abwarten.

Wie ich sehe, habt Ihr mit der Pumpe in der Küche ja allerlei Schwierigkeiten gehabt. Eigentlich sind es ja noch Folgen des Winters gewesen. Wie mögt Ihr froh gewesen sein, wie Ihr es wieder in Ordnung gehabt habt. In den letzten Tagen habe ich folgende Päckchen erhalten, Nr. 40, 41, 42 und Nr. 43. Der Topfkuchen war nicht verschimmelt und schmeckte noch tadellos. Die Päckchen mit Butter, es müssen Nr. 37, 38 und Nr. 39, habe ich leider noch immer nicht bekommen. Sollten sie noch kommen, es wäre doch zu schade, "
