I think I should give some explantion to "Kapitulantenhandgeld".

This was a one-off payment for those soldiers who signed the contract for a long term commitment to serve with the army/navy.

It started with 100 RM (Reichsmark) for 4 1/2 years and ended with 300 RM for those who wanted to stay/serve 12 years.

        Help with text

        Hi there,
        does the above mean
The Sturm men are awaiting approval before been promoted to
        Sturmmann ?
        Thank for any help Jamie

I believe it states they need to provide more proof to the promotion board, to verify they have done what's needed for promotion.

              Sort of a condensed translation:
Received a packet from his sister a few days ago. Many thanks. He wanted to send his sister a letter, but he lost her address by accidentally tearing/throwing away the envelope (from her). He congratulates her to her “name day” on 25 Nov. (This is a German thing; every day of the year is dedicated to a name – John, Susie, Joseph, Silke, etc.)
He’s been in south Italy 4 weeks. It’s pretty there. But home is prettier. He thinks of home a lot. And they haven’t once reached the target of their campaigns.
Wishes them a merry Christmas and happy new year.

It could be of interest: the packet came from Mering, a town in Bavaria.

Some of the signature I can read:

Schenck zu Schweinsberg - Mahler - Hasse (?)

Can anyone please tell me what the owner of this book was named?

And, the date listed? Is that when he joined the party?
