Anyone be able to lend a hand translating some of this soldier's service history and information? I picked this up because it was in good shape and the name is eerily close to my own.

Nothing really interesting to note: June-Aug. '17 in a hospital, wore size 28/4 boot, with Schallmesstrupp 92 from Sept.'17--Oct.1918, went on leave to Neu Koelln near Berlin and could not return to his unit due to leave prohibition. Received money and uniform for discharge, released by the commander of the Garde-Korps.

          "Schallmesstrupp" was es special unit.
They started in January 1916 when 51 such units were embattled. In different places in the area of the front they installed microphones to identify by the noise and the exact time of the firing of the cannons the position of the enemy guns.
At the end of the war the German Army had 110 Schallmesstrupps.

            Hello all,

I bought these photos in a lot of WWII items yesterday. The photo on the top is of some infantry troops with their rifles, machine gun, and one of them has a Potatoe Masher in his hand. The reverse is pictured directly below. The other picture is of a line of Luftwaffe troops. The reverse is above the photo. Could anyone aid in the translation of the handwriting on the reverse of the pictures? If so, I would greatly appreciate it.

            Thanks!

It was a bit tricky to figure out because it is written in a Low-German dialect.

                            The literal transcription:

                            Vor Verdun, d. 30.9.15

I received both of your postcards and enjoyed them very much. Currently there is bad weather here. It is raining all day. We have nearly completed the hall. The picture was taken last Sunday. I am still fine. Best wishes from your brother Schorsch (= Georg).
