Last part of the word seems to say 'hose' (pants)?

Yes, they were allowed - but of course the letters were seized before. Also they are only allowed to write in german, even if the writer (as here) is not german. Therefore his grammar is a bid odd.

Anyway, he writes:

Dear wife and kids,

I send you best wishes and let you know that I am healthy and fine. Hope the same for you. You are allowed to write me (send a letter) twice each month, but you are not allowed to send parcels. But you could send me money wich I can always use. I wish you the best for the holidays. Please say hello to brothers and brothers/sisters in law. Best regards, yours Paul
