I think this is the remains of the skull of the man in the picture. If he was hit by a BAR bullet in the temple, it probably caused fractures to all the facial bones, and the big fracture going all around visible here. The skull was still in a mdl 42 helmet with chicken wire remains. The dead man in the picture also looks like his helmet has camo.
I only found fragments of the face.

Sorry for deleating a bunch of posts, but I decided I will keep that info an other time.
I will leave these pictures here since I had put them there... Exhumation of german soldiers at Villeneuve-Loubet, France on oct 18th 2006. They were KIA by the First Special Service Force on aug 26th 1944.
