      Hi,

isnĀ“t it the 18th SS Vol. Panzergrenadierdivision "Horst Wessel"?

Vehicle appears to be a Skoda 606/706, probably the latter.

The 1st SS Infantry Brigade (motorised) also used that sword insignia and was used in the forming of Horst Wessel. The vehicles appear to me to be Panzer Grey which might indicate that they do belong to 1st SS Inf as Horst Wessel was
formed well after the introduction of the Dark yellow as the base colour.

According to Herzfeld ( Die Geschichte der deutschen Kfz-Kennzeichen), the license number series SS 500000 was used in 1944 mostly on Skoda vehicles.

Earlier I posted from memory that it could be SS-Kavallerie-Brigade but I could not find any evidence. Instead, a similar insigia was used by SS Totenkopf-Standarte 4 / SS Infanterie-Regiment 4 (or 2. SS Infanterie-Brigade later). The insignia seems to be a bit different in details. Please see the thread http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=837999 for examples.

              Re you thread #790.
Your photo's of a static sun hakenkreuz, with an emblem in the centre, seen's to be a man standing in there??do you a clear close up photo,as it seen
that it in the colour of each Abt.It is of course a Luftwaffe Flak Unit, not anything to do with Waffen SS, emblems.
              It is
first seen in the parade in Athens in 1941.And then in Russia (Southern Front). The only unit to have both,20cm and 88cm,as a mixed unit is..I/Flak Regiment 14.
              Hope this might help you.
              Regards Jack

If you look up the photograph in Bundesarchiv you'll find that according to their description that is Himmler viewing a march past of the SS-Kavalerie Division. I for one didn't know that was ever their divisional sign but there you are.

Greetings all! I am needing help identifying an emblem on two Krads in a photo I picked up at the SOS. Here is the part of the photo that shows the emblem and a close up of the emblem as well. Thanks in advance! -Kevin

grosser Wasserkolonne (mot) 645 was part of 5 Leihte Division in February 1941 and was later reassigned to Panzerarmee Afrika. This according to Bender & Law.
