Certainly looks like a British battle dress w/ LW insignia to me too. What a sight! Kind of surprising the Allies allowed the swastika to be put on (or remain on) one of their uniforms in captivity like that.....

Here is another odd portrait to follow yours Bill....

A flak mann with WW1 ek2, but ww2 ribbon.....and a backwards Sudetenland medal! Note how the medal bar was placed crooked on the pocket just for the photo shoot

                            Hi, Bill.

That's a fantastic portrait! So sharp & clear! I think the same - it is his father's cross for WWI. Because he is too young for WWI.

Yup, that was one of the opinions on WRForum too.

He's surely too young for ww1. A friend suggested that since it was his wedding day, he might not have had the actual ww2 cross with him (on short leave from the front /etc)....so he had to make do with what he could get his hands on??

Still doesn't make sense that the Sudeten medal is backwards tho....an odd portrait for sure.

A Great Portrait...uncommon for sure. Many photo studios had awards, caps, cufftitles, etc. on hand for the photo shoots/portraits so that could be a possibility as well. I have a number of portraits with what appears to be the wrong service cap, cufftitle pinned on (sometimes on the wrong side) or something else that doesn't seem quite right in the portrait.

Did you notice in my two portraits that the POW DAK Veteran on the left has his ribbon bar on backwards in one of the portraits.

                                Bill
