            Bill the photo you just posted showing the two luftwaffe field division men in winter wear, the man on the left seems to be wearing what could be a womens furr coat that has been chopped up a little.
            Werent there winter appeals in germany for warm cloths donations for the men on the russian front. maybe this is a example ?

              Below is a photo of a soldier whose first name was Stefan. I'll post the back of the photo as well as there is some writing on the back. Also, can someone make out the markings on his shoulder boards?

                  Ian,

                  WHW (Winterhilfswerke) did collect old clothes and furs to be converted or brought to the Russian front for use by the soldiers...especially after that first cold winter that hit them hard as they had none of the winter clothing that you normally see later on in 1943-45. In this photo you see both examples.

                  P 31 stands for Panzerjaeger Abteilung (Anti-Tank unit) of the 31st Battery or Regiment of a Division. Bill
