Unfortunately it's not uncommon as I have many photos with writing obscured by glue & paper due to being removed from photo albums. What is a shame is the removal of these photos from albums and then being sold separately.

Don't you hate it when that happens. I've had several photos over the years where there may have been writing, and in some cases you could actually see a bit of the writing, it's kind of frustrating.

Nice portraits. The shirt appears to be possibly
British made as the shoulder loops are not German shoulder boards.
