    Officer's courses

Is there any list of personal attending such courses?

Exist a list of the different courses imparted during the war classified by school?

Thanks a lot I am tunic to find if two Panzerjäger officers that were promoted to Leutnant the same day attended the same course or, at least, courses taking part at the same time in two different schools.

    Thanks

    Hello Angel !

I am very interested in this topic and have collected several infos over the time.
At the bottom, you will find a summary on the dates of courses, that I have compiled so far.

In addition, I made some observations that could be interesting for this topic in general.
There are also many questions still open, and it would be great, if someone could help to clarify at least some of them .

Here is a first summary, what I think I noticed, that could be at least partially relevant to your questions.
(any corrections or additional info would be very welcome !)

1.) Apparently, the courses for O.A. (Offizier-Anwärter) took place only at the different Waffenschulen
(schools of the different weapons branches) until mid 1942. Any additional/contradictory example would be great here !!

2.) Perhaps even more interesting :
It seems, that the courses for all branches took place roughly at the same time/ in parallel..

As an example you can have a look at AHM 1940, p. 522, Nr. 1201 (2nd scan below) :
It states the dates for the next (6. O.A.) course (15.1.-15.5.41), and then lists certain regulations (not shown below, because too long)
for the various schools. The schools mentioned at that time were :
    - Infanterieschule Döberitz-Elsgrund
    - Artillerieschule Jüterbog
    - Pionierschule Dessau-Rosslau
    - Heeresnachrichtenschule Halle
    - Fahrtruppenschule Hannover
    - Panzertruppenschule Wünsdorf
    - Kavallerieschule Krampnitz
    - (a course for Eisenbahnpioniere was probably to be organized separately)

The important point to take from that source is, that all those courses took place at the same timeframe !
So, a date for the 5. O.A. course infantry (or Pionier etc. ), should also apply to all other branches (roughly) !

3.) From mid 1942 onward, the O.A. courses became separated from their former schools and formed schools of their own :
For the infantry, these were (see scan) :
    - Schule I f. Offz.Anw. (Offizier-Anwärter) der Infanterie, Dresden
    - Schule II f. O.A. (Offizier-Anwärter) der Infanterie, Wiener-Neustadt
    - Schule III f. O.A. (Offizier-Anwärter) der Infanterie, Potsdam (from Lehrgr. III Döberitz)
    - Schule IV f. O.A. (Offizier-Anwärter) der Infanterie, Ohrdruf
    - Schule V f. O.A. (Offizier-Anwärter) der Infanterie, Döberitz (from Lehrgr. I + II Döberitz)

In Autumn 1942, further schools for O.A. d. Inf. were formed :
    - Schule VI f. O.A. (Beverloo, later Metz)
    - Schule VII f. O.A. (Milowitz)
    - Schule VIII f. O.A. (Hannover, later Wetzlar)
    In January 1943 :
    - Schule IX f. Fhjk. d. Inf. (Hagenau, Sept. 1944 to Randers, Denmark)
    In November 1944 :
    - Schule X f. Fhjk. d. Inf. (Hannover)

In early 1943, all schools for O.A. were redesignated to: Schule f. Fahnenjunker der Infanterie

I assume, for the other weapon branches, similar happened in 1942/43, but I do not know exactly.
Any additional info would be great .

What I am unsure about :
When the courses became separated from the weaponschools in 1942/43, I do not know whether all courses
of the different branches from 12. OA course onward, had still (roughly) the same timeframe.
(My impression is "roughly yes", but it is still unclear so far.)

It would be nice, if someone could provide further input on this interesting topic !

    Best regards,

    Archi

From a photobook in my possession we can see the "evolution" from a Fahnenjunker to a Leutnant.
Our man started his career in the Infanterie-Regiment 50 of the 111th I.D.
Then he joined another Infanterie regiment, the 191st of the 71st I.D. He spent the rest of the war in that division.
In the meantime, in 1943, he attented the Schule VIII f. O.A. at Hannover
                    ( 2 Inspection = ? ).
He moved to the PzJag abt 171, presumably after December 1943, because till the end of 1943 the 2nd Kompanie of that unit was equipped with twelve 7,5 Pak 40 towed by Steyr-Ostschlepper . But in November- December 1943 the Kp was requipped with eight Italian M42 da 75/18 and 75/34 ( in the course of the 1944 six M43 da 105/25 joined the unit ) self -propelled guns and these must be the "Jagdpanzer" mentioned in the caption.
Later he moved to 4 Kompanie which was an anti-aircraft unit ( at 1st of December 1943, twelve light half-tracks with 2 cm flak 38) and which it seems he commanded in 1945, starting as Oberfanrich and then as Leutenant .

I see now that I made a mistake. It was the 3rd Kp to be the A.A. of the Pz.Jag. Abt 171. I ignore details on the 4th Kp, perhaps created in Hungary as it didn't exist in Italy . . .
                      Any explanation ?

                        Hello fabiog !

Some nice photos, that illustrate his career from Fhjk. to Leutnant !
Many thanks for adding these to this thread.

As this is a thread about O.A. courses, we should not go into individual unit details too much, but the explanation
for your question might be found here :
                        https://www.google.de/url?sa=t&rct=j...L4V-rnxYEEfDNz
As the former co. equipped with Italian StuG was later reequipped with PzJg. 38, it might be that this became then the 4. Kp. ?!
(And the former Kp.Führer of 2. Kp. became Kp. Führer of 4. Kp. ?)

                        Best regards,
