KC winner photos after the war

Maybe a thread of interest, I put it in photos/documents but maybe better suited here. How they looked in their later years, from all the services.

Two KC holders from the Waffen-SS in 1997. Johannes Göhler (left) and Will Fey

Outstanding! Glad to see that you are out of your operation and recovering, Mr. Yerger! I wish I had things to contribute, but I don't. All I can do is buckle my seat belt and get ready for what promises to be a great thread!

Sad to say that all I've posted are gone.

Here is Swords winner (commander Regiment "Der Führer") Otto Weidinger at an evening gala for the OdR in the early 1980s.

Swords winner Otto Kumm (last "Leibstandarte" commander) with association supporter Ruth Sommers in 1997.
Kumm was the last living Waffen-SS General and Swords winner.
He wrote the foreword for volume 1 of my two volumes set "Waffen-SS Commanders."

assault gun detachment and recon detachment commander Ernst August Krag (Oakleaves, "Das Reich").
He was among the half dozen KC holders I was very close with and I released his biography in early 1997.
Though he died before seeing a copy, he did see the design pages and wrote an afterword for it.

"Das Reich" commander Otto Baum (Swords holder) helping
me with adding names to photos in the early 1980s.

He later wrote the forewords for my biography of
Ernst August Krag and for volume 2 of "Waffen-SS Commanders."

Baum won the German Cross, Knight's Cross, and Oakleaves
with "Totenkopf" and the Swords for command of "Das Reich."

A great violin player who made beautiful items by hand
in his wood shop, several of which I got as gifts.

                          K-F Merten

A foto of K-F Merten, Oaklaves holder, and commander of U-68. I took these while visiting him at his house where he was happy to pull a few things out of his desk to show me. His Oakleaves Document (he also had the large document for the RK). A shot of him with his RK and Oakleaves and a front and back shot of his U-Boat badge with diamonds.
