Deumer & Juncker Pilot badges

All 3!! In my opinion the Deumer badge although designed by the same pattern maker, uses a distinctly finished eagle whereas the Juncker to the IMME could well be a hand me down!

Just my thoughts on this.

Good comparisions, Neil. I agree that the "Deumer" marked eagle in post #39 has the same texture and finish as seen on the Deumer eagles. It argues favorably that the badge was produced and marked in a Deumer factory using a Juncker die.

I'm wondering if Deumer only made the pilot badge for a short period of time. I haven't seen any in zinc and the quality of the Deumer always seems high. Let's bear in mind that Deumer made a lot of their later badges in zinc eg air gunner, radio op badges, etc.

It could be possible that Deumer used this die for a time and then changed to a new die. BUT why would they do that? Doesn't exactly make economic sense.

I can only think that one factory produced the eagles for Juncker and Deumer (and possibly IMME) until Deumer got their own die.

Are you still "sticking" to your theory, because I independently (......) have reached the same conclusion as you and IMO you are 100% correct here. One (3rd party) company was manufacturing eagles to all 3 companies (Juncker, Deumer and JMME)...

Did you guys read Frank's wonderful book on the GAB's? He mentions a period reference that stated Juncker would provide the dies to other manufacturers for badges. Granted this was in 1944, but I wonder if they were doing it earlier as well, and hence, how the Duemers look like Junckers.
