The first is Italian Army General Ugo Cavallero, Chief of the general staff of the Italian Supreme Command. Great catch as he is a NEW recipient !!! He is the 86th confirmed recipient.
Another of Cavallero in the same meeting where he got the badge from Göring.

This was attributed to Mussolini, but the case it's not the original one presented by Göring.

De Greffrie is the first on the right (next to Milch) wearing the badge.

The other foreign holder in the picture is French General Joseph Vuillemin (in the middle with binoculars)

Interesting piece! Thanks for sharing it here.

                Is it attributed?

The man behind Italo Balbo in the photo directly above wearing the Diamond badge is Colonel Giuseppe Teucci the Italian Air Attache to Berlin and earlier an aide to the Italian King.

This is a very interesting showcase thread.

It's also interesting to sometimes see the same badge get passed around over the years. This one started off with a COA from Detlev Niemann in 2006 which doesn't mention any attribution but was then auctioned by Hermann Historica in 2007 as attributed to Generalfeldmaschall Hugo Sperrle. Then the same badge and COA were posted by Sepp in 2013 courtesy of Alexander Historical Auctions, followed by updated images of the obverse and reverse posted by josh105 (but without mention of any attribution to Sperrle).

When you compare the two images, you can see that in the meantime there's some brownish residue caught in the left margin of the wreath and on the left rivet nut, and the rivet nuts appear to have been tightened a quarter turn. So some manipulation has occurred in the interim, perhaps disassembly and cleaning/polishing?

                                Best regards,
                                ---Norm
