    Junker Eagle

Just as an aside! This is the same eagle, although a poor quality photo, but the wreath is different! Look at the next photo, of the reverse!

    Cheers,
    James

      Junker/Deumer Eagle

Now the back! These have been discussed at some point in time and the reference to parts sharing by the manufacturers. Just thought I'd throw a twist into it!

      Cheers,
      James

                Hi Dazar,

Let me turn this around. You've loaded your badge into a thread with a lot of good clear detailed images of Juncker LW Para Badges. What is your opinion of your badge? Do you have concerns?

                Regards
                Mike K

Hello Mike K, interesting twist, badges are very spooky these days, i would like opinions from veterans in the badge collecting community. i feel that the badge is good from doing research in books, forum, and other sites. but i would like to have reassurance so i can tuck it away and appreciate it, if you know what i mean!!!!!!

                  thanks

                  david

                    Hi David,

Nice to know you have done some research - sometimes around here it seems that's not the case!

From what I can see, I agree, I think the badge is genuine. The maker mark on that angle is a bit unusual but not a major cause for concern as the form looks correct (from what I can see anyway). Not much - if any - fire-gilding on the obverse but still an nice honest example. Personally, I think you can sleep easy.

                    Regards

                      thanks mike k,

as you said the maker mark is a bit unusual, but i found the same marker mark on page 149 of "RED SHINES THE SUN" by Eric Queen. GREAT BOOK!!!!!!The hallmark stamping looks identical to a 2nd pattern army/para badge in aluminum listed on that page. What year do you think my badge was made? the research and detective work is 90% of the battle, i think all young collectors should buy many reference books, study the forums, ask many questions, and pray! i take the approach is everything is guilty till proven innocent. THANKS

                      DAVID

                        Hi David,

That's not an easy question, unless you've handled lots of GROUPINGS (ie Badge + Doc) straight from the German veteran - I readily admit to not having that sort of experience!

I've only seen a handful of Juncker's "first pattern" thin wreath LW Para Badges (the ones with the Assmann-LIKE eagle, but definitely not Assmann). I'm guessing production of those was fairly short-lived, finishing in maybe '37 or '38 at the latest. Your "textbook" example with tombak eagle and ?nickel-silver wreath could be anywhere from late '30s to early '43 (assuming Juncker changed to zinc around the latter time). If the wreath is tombak instead of nuckel-silver, then I'd date your badge in the later part of that timeframe. Manybe someone else can be more specific based on die flaws / die wear.

                        Regards
