I locate these photos about Rudel's goblet.

This is an interesting shot. It is easy to assume that it was taken on the day Rudel won the goblet, but that is not the case since he is wearing his RK (which was awarded after the goblet).

So, either he drank out of his goblet on special occasions, or perhaps it was someone elses goblet and it was passed around on their award date...and the camera man got a shot of "the famous guy" taking a drink.

Maybe the text below has the answer???

Thats a nice pic Chen but I dont think it shows the awarding of the Ehrenpokal. It more likely shows the awarding of the ritterkreuz and they are probably toasting the award with the pokal. The guy on the left looks a lot like Joachim Munchenberg, do you have any idea as to the ID of these two men???

My uncle received the Ehrenbecher from von Hoeppner in 1918, and the Ehrenpokal from Goering in 1940. He told me that they used the goblets for all kinds of occasions, such as award ceremonies, or simply 'cameraderie in the mess'.

Hajo Herrmann's goblet was discovered in an European bar. It has been denazify . Glad to put it next to Marseille's goblet. Both goblets are hallmarked 835 silver type.

I think Michael in one of the earlier posts listed a very helpful, escalating price guide for these goblets. Fallschirmjager was listed as the rarest.

I was under the impression that ground units such as FJ would have received the salver in lieu of the goblet. Are there any known goblets awarded to an FJ?

Thank you.

Remember, the Salver was instituted after the parachute assaults in Holland and Crete. The Pokal was presented to Falschirmjager until the institution of the Honor Salver.

In Patzwall's book "Der Ehrenpokal fur besondere Leistung in Luftkrieg" he shows a document on page 33 awarded to Dr Joachim Kirsch for (I will translate): "in recognition of your extraordinary heroism and exemplary optimism as the leader of a Parachute Medical Battalion during actions on crete".

Michael - thanks for the clarification. I had not seen any goblets awarded to Fallschirmjager, so that would be a very rare and unique piece to acquire!

Hi,

Dr. Langemeyer, who earned an RK for his command of a Medical Bn in the Normandy area, also listed an honor goblet as one of his awards. The goblet supposedly resides with his family.

My understanding is that the goblet was not a personal award but a unit award to Jagdgeschwader 51, a very rare thing. That is the story I was given.
