Stan have you ever tried getting info from the Deutsche Dienststelle ? They can be reached at the following website: http://dd-wast.javabase.de It's not free anymore, each copy is 8 euro I believe but if there is something that can be found they will find it. Best regards, Kris Simoens.

You might be lucky with WASt but you tend to need a name, date and place of birth!

It might be worth looking through the index of any related unit histories to see if he is listed, however that could be fighter, bomber, recce, Stuka, etc.etc.

I have quite a few but I am not at home at moment..........

Still looking for the Ehrenpokal awarded to my uncle, Hauptmann Dr. Albrecht Ochs, October 1940 for victories during the BoB. The poverbial needle in the haystack....

I just wanted to say that I have finally tracked down Oberfeldwebel Lothar Tiekenhenrich who was born on 29.09 1915 in Lerbeck and died in 1973. He was bomber pilot during the Battle of Britain and flew Heinkel 111's. This info cost me €8 from WAST. Thanks to Kris and Ian for their help.

                    First some data on
                    Leutnant Hans Witzel: 5./Jagdgeschwader 27
Was awarded the Ehrenpokal on 2nd February 1943 (date on the goblet is the date that is on the Verleihungsurkunde and is the actual awarding date). The awarding was published in the Ehrenliste der Luftwaffe on 15th March 1943. This is rather late (mostly only a maximum of two weeks, but notuncommon). The dates in lists like in the book of Patzwall on the Ehrenpokal are the dates that the awarding was listed in the Ehrenliste der Luftwaffe which was not the actual awarding date. The awarding date was always (mostly, exceptions confirm as usual the rule) earlier.

Heinz Hartisch awarding of the Ehenpokal was listed in the Erhenliste der Luftwaffe on 18th May 1942.
