Too much working,
not enough sitting around the house drinking and WAF-ing.
I've got to make some life changes. Missing out on all the fun.
IMO ~ ALL the badges posted in this thread are original with the exception of the badge in posts # 13 and # 14.
Things I like to see in an JMME...
Pinched rivets
Brassy hinge
Saw-tooth wing-tip cut out style.
On the silver eagles I notice that they are usually snub-nosed.
Let's not forget the "ugly duckling". These can be found on a J2 wreath...Comment

There is also a rumour that "all silver" badges were actually produced for wear on summer tunics or for parade.
I've seen a few Junckers that were all silver. They didn't appear to have been cleaned.Comment

One more time, I really think that Frank nailed this perfectly with his “Brünierung” theory. +60 years later it is really hard to guess what happened to badge “final finish”. Again if hinge, catch and rivets are “ok” I don’t have any problems with “silver” eagle JMME’s…Comment

..the catch that is,not the bra....
Then the alu buckles..,made for parade and to wear in "die Kneipe"..;although many prefered to wear these on the Fliegerbluse,not made for combat.
The Alu Summer eagle.......,for the white Summerjacket;to wear in the bar..
Worn on many other jackets by choice,but not made for combat.
Dagger,first types aluminum..,not for wear in the plane...
White Summercap with alu insignia,not for combat..,although they did..
So,why did they made all these alu things for the bar and to take a walk in the town,EXCEPT for those alu badges,which were especially made for flying ??!
A theory is that they made alu badges to make the pilot,observer etc "lighter"............,C'mon..,only take the flight knife,a super heavy item..
or the big flightwatch,heavy..,none of these items have aluminum on them..,but maybe that's why they made the badges aluminum..,to compensate those heavy items ??!...uhuh..

Yes, I think that all JMME eagles received Brünierung treatment. Unfortunately this “blackening layer” was (is) very "fragile" and after +60 years disappeared from some examples (mostly) because of cleaning. Can I prove it? NO, but can you prove your point? I also think that the JMME eagles were originally darkened. I can see evidence of this on both my JMME Pilot badge and ROG where traces of the original dark finish are still visible in the recesses.Visit my Badge Collection: http://lbmilitaria.homestead.com/home.htmlComment

This badge seems to be untouched,the wreath is still nice and dark,no rubbing,no silver dip...,just a Jmme silver eagle on a blackened wreath..,who needs proof for that ?

Jos, IMO you are wrong. It is a Juncker and Juncker only product. Anyway, how you can tell that this badge was untouched? The picture is in so low quality that I’m heaving a hard time to see any details on her at all, but you can tell from it that this badge for +60 years was untouched?!...Originally posted by Jos Le Conté
Besides you are trying to dismiss very important point with your generalizing statement, some eagles were made from NS when some eagles were made from BM. Both metals will hold and react to the finish in their own unique way.Comment

I know years ago Detlev had several of these badges,all very mint IMO.
I think they're nickle Jmme eagles on a feinzink(maybe Juncker)wreath with Juncker hinge and catch..,but that doesn't change the fact.
The color on the all silver nickle badges is very consitent,no difference in color between the wreath and eagle..
I can imagine that Jmme/Juncker or complete Juncker badges manufactured by Jmme can show remains of black finish,but in my experience the all silver ones are always very "clean"..,I can't find anything on my badge,not a spot..
I've made it a big bigger for you to see,bad quality,but obviously Jmme.
Take a look at page 2,post 28 and you'll see a RO/AG Jmme on top and then a Juncker eagle..
Besides that,I remember I've a very nice mat silver nickle LW beltbuckle made by B&NL which has the same yellowish hue...
So,clean nickle items did exist...,reason..? I don't know..all I know is that it never had any finish..,...silver dip ?
