For sure it wasn't unusual to find such situation during the war, if in the same navy base were both KM personell in blue and those in field grey uniforms.

The units were "giving" the men for the watch duty, usually based on their rank or commanding duty.

Anyway, first time for me to see such situation.
    Thanks, Norm.

Don't thank me, thank sudhafen. He posted them and I just uploaded his photos to the WAF server so they wouldn't get lost.

      Best regards,

          Guys,

A technical question, I apologise if it is mentioned but I think I have read all posts, what were these made of?

I only ask as I have got one in poor condition without the Gold wash, I would say it has been in the ground a while and is struck in copper.

I have not found a match for it within all of your photos posted although it shares some asspects of most of them, ie the retainer maid in two parts the oakleave finish of another (lined leaves not pebbaled), the rope touches the anchor point at the left etc.

There is no maker mark, it appears to be a stamped disc with a bar cental, affixed vertically top to bottom onto which is atached a 'slider' similar to British Army cap badges?

I can't post photos as I am not a paid up member, sorry.

It cost me a British Army modern combat jacket €15 so no great loss if not correct.

          Cheers.

          Jock

              Julio,

Kindly a member has offered to post the pics for me, I have sent them to him.

If a paid up member posts them they stay here for all as opposed to using the hosting sites which some times go offline for what ever reason, not least my lack of computer skills.

              Cheers

                .....

Just posting these images up for Jock.

Although a bit salty having lost all it's Gilt finish a nice Wartime period Tombak badge IMO.

I agree. Of course, it could also be pre-war with continued used into wartime before the introduction of zinc.

                  Best regards,
                  ---Norm
