Some very interesting conclusions/discoveries in the last year:
1. The assumed "Wernstein" U-boat badge was actually made by the firm Wiedman. Another thread was run on this.
2. Deumer made the unknown "Hymenn type" badge as evidenced in the catalog of that company and thread. The accepted Deumer u-boat badge could very well also be made by Duemer based on the evidence in Torpedo Los--that of the packet marked Deumer that had the accepted Deumer badge in it to the family of a killed sailor. So Deumer might have started with the high pin no prop/screw version and changed later to the conventional looking Deumer we are already familiar with.
3.. I would also say the circumstantial evidence still points to the "Juncker" u-boat badge as indeed a Juncker made badge. Especially when compared to the EK1 spange by Juncker.
4. The possiblility that the "long pin" unmarked tombak Schwerin U-boat badge, recognized also by the silvered looking pin and upside down hinge, was actually made by Steinhauer. This is based on the drawings in the Steinhauer catalog that look like the Schwerin obverse but has the long round tail sticking down below the wreath. It is circumstantial, but no Steinhauer U-boat badge has appeared, and, it might be because we have labled this unmarked variant a Schwerin. The other Schwerin that is unmarked has the normal Schwerin reverse hardware, so you should remember in any case that there are two unmarked tombak Schwerin type tombak U-boat badges in addition to the marked ones.
