The Deumer Destroyer Badge in zinc

    Hi Guys,

We've now got reasonably good proof of the Deumer Destroyer badge in zinc.

We already knew of the Deumer-attributed unmarked tombak badges which match the G.W.L.-stamped tombak badges but have a typical Deumer vertical pin setup and are single-struck rather than double-struck.

As well, we've all seen the zinc version of this G.W.L./Deumer design, and there's a nice version of Jan Arne's posted in the Destroyer thread here.

Well, this thread in the Cross forum shows a couple of original Deumer boards from post-war Lüdenscheid which carry the exact same type of zinc badge. Stepdale kindly posted closeups of the Destroyer from his Deumer board there.

Although there remains a small possibility that G.W.L. made the badge that Deumer included on his boards, it certainly seems more likely these are Deumer zincers, especially since the setup matches the Deumer-attributed zinc Minesweeper and U-Boat badges.

    You gotta love it!

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

For good measure, the same setup on the Deumer "3"-marked late war zinc KVK.

Thanks for posting that, Norm and a big thank you also to Dale. For me, that badge is Deumer all-the-way.

          Best regards,

Doesanybody know , just out of curiosity?

Are there any original vertical round pin examples of the destroyer badge , possibly ....late war? I have one with the horizontal, but someone ground the makers mark off???why , I dont know. I would assume some manufacturer made a vertical round pin type during the war.(possibly deumer)

                  Hi Juoneen,
Yes, there are original vertical round pin examples of the destroyer badge - tombak badges attributed to Deumer and zinc RS, WH, FO and controversial flatbacks.
I enclose an example of tombak Deumer posted previously by Gordon Williamson on GCA.
If you own horizontal pin variant of this design with grounded maker's mark then it is probably GWL.
                  Cheers,
                  Hubert

And a very nice one with variant finish in this thread.

juoneen, there are also vertical wire pin later war zinc Destroyers by the Vienna makers, Souval, Hobacher and Orth, if that's what you were asking. You'll find those three in the Destroyer reference thread.

                      Best regards,
                      ---Norm

                              Gents,
Do you think that this zinc Destroyer from Weitze's site has a chance to be made by Deumer with quite odd (or replaced) reverse hardware?
                              Cheers,
