Fo IAB made by FLL

Hi Guys,

Thought this would be something to break your heads over. At least I did when I stumbled over it on a German Forum.

In the meantime the owner Christian (C&A) gave me permission to share it with you.

This was an absolute first for me, without a doubt FLL made but the clue is to be found in a little maker mark in the reverse of the rifle bud L/14 or Friedrich Orth.

Don't ask me to explain this, it simply shows how very limited or knowledge really is when it comes to explaining how these award manufactures really operated and worked together.

This is the type of badge that would make you loose your last hair isn't it.

I think there is only one logical explaination here.

We know the IAB's Fo produced because they exist with different set-ups and both marked Fo and L/14. We also know that Fo was the type of maker that most likely didn't design it's proper badges (U-Boot, IAB=Vienna Design, PAB= Wernstein design.............)

So I can only image that prior to making a final decission on the above designs they also where in contact with FLL. FLL known for their unique design's most likely employed their proper designers and was capable of making a die.

This badge proofs that at least they tried to make something for Fo. Was this more then a trial run, that I don't know.

If anybody has another explaination I would very much like to hear it.

Well that indeed is the least you can say. Based upon what we think we know this indeed is an FLL made WB

Like I mentioned in earlier threads, there is an awful lot to be learned from WB's. Only problem is to be able to do so you would need to start collecting all WB variants and at the same time have a very good understanding of all combat badges. A rather difficult thing to accomplish.

A very interesting wound badge, clearly FLL style hardware........not to say others didn't use the same. As far as the IAB goes, we've seen that badge before and for now who knows...........can't really venture a guess until more show up or.........like with wound badge other awards surface giving us at least a chance to speculate.

very interesting and helpful pics from the WB mm "L/14"!
I think that the catch an the mm definitely the same like my hollow IAB. So there exist a real connection between Linden and Orth.
