      Giel/Alex,

      Your dark bronze theory is not supported by imperical data as all/most manufacturers changesd their finishes and given the natural reaction to time/air, can result in different shades.

      Giel ---

      Every numbered badge on your Facebook page has a different finish---that would make some of them bad/refinished?

        Dear Scott,

        Thanks for posting, but your badge has been heavily cleaned and no longer has any of the original finish remaining. I think you are comparing "apples and oranges".


        Also, the die flaws in the eagle's talons clearly make your a later produced badge,

            I did never say numbered badges could't have different kinds of finishes. I just reacted to your quote from Philippe's book.

            Yours is just a finish I have never seen before, that's all. If you believe it is ok well than discussion closed. Thought I could just share with you what troubled me.

                  Indeed two of the JFS color variations, the dark and the gold/brown one are also to be seen on the numbered assault badges. But take a look at the bronze of your badge and you will never find a match with an other JFS combat award.

                    your badge needs a good wash in warm soap water with a mild plain soap like "Sunlight" and an old worn tooth bush.

                    I do not think it is as worn/ faded as it looks. I think that there is a lot of encrusted old polish around the oakleaves, acorns and tracks on the tank.

                    It would be interesting to see how it comes up

                      Giel,

                      One thing I have learned in this hobby is never to say never!

                      The early "Juncker" numbered badges are a classic example of a "variation" that was considered a "reproduction" and not until very recently identified as original and much rarer than the JFS produced specimens.

                      I guess you and I will just have to disagree once again, but if you are happy with your knowledge base than I wish you all the best in the coming new year!
