Hi Brian,
Indeed, this is an original IAB. It is referred to as "broken stem" because the maker is currently unknown, but Rettenmaier is a good candidate.
The badge is zinc, no doubt about it. The large plates under the hinge and catch are almost always an indication of a zinc badge.
