I am not sure who made the badge that started this thread, but it is not Souval, as far as the set of 4 they not only look the same with only minor hand finishing differences all of those have identical dot design on the scull which is very small and would be hard to make another die with exactly the same positioning and amount of dots, to me those dots on the scull like a finger print of the die and if those match than it's Souval if not than it's not, there is another type of badge that looks a lot like Souval, but dots don't match - so it was made by some one else.

I am away from my comp. at the moment so can't post closeups of the dots, but they can be found in the links that Darius posted.

Alikn: take a closer look at the bones of these 4 badges ..., as to shape, curvature fatness etc. There is more , but check that first.

As far as value for this Post WW1 tank badge...(whatever anyone is willing to pay, or can get one for). Recently they sold sepps. set of early and later version badges, but they had real provenance, although i cannot recall what the selling price was at the end. (it was high though) Lots of controverseys on the silver versions...i say find one that trips your trigger, and once you own it, try and upgrade it ....if possible....its what makes you happy that counts. I have never found one of these with provenance yet, first hand....but have seen some sell on e bay in the past with 800 marks on pins, and looked very nice. Like pilot badges , im not sure i trust the junker marks , as opposed to one with no maker, but relief holes for gas , from manufacturing, and a silver mark only. But I think sepps front details are the types i would spring for if i were getting one . Anyone know the thread number for his sale of his pair of badges ?? Never can get enough looks at those . Also pay attention to the bomb bursts above, and the cannon positioning on the tank.
There are some good books on these , so if you are so inclinded to be in obsession with studing them, id say buy every reference book on the subject, read every thread, and keep hunting as you are doing.....good luck to all , and i bet there are some real nice ones out there hiding in some of the participants collections on here. If the guy who purchased one on e bay about 4 to 5 years ago with just a silver 800 mark is on here, id like to see that one again.( was it from a seller from las vegas NM.?)

I brought this thread to the top again trying to find a match for this badge. This is a variation of real or fake badge I have not seen before- does anyone know the form?
