Phil is right. At the book J.Allerberger does NOT wear the RK in this particular photo. Also in the book (at least the edition i have) there is a photo of his award document to the sniper badge (among others except the RK) 3rd class with the badge itself. The badge is different than the one shown on Niemann and Allerberger never wore it as far as i remember (for obvious reasons).

Just a personal opinion on the book here................not on the items under discussion.
To me, the Allerberger book reads like a Sven Hassel book.
How much of it is actually true, and how much of it is sensationalist fiction?Comment

i think that this Konvolut ist not real from Allerberger.
2006 i visited him and he said that he became only a Document
with all 3 steps from the sniper badge but no Badges. The Division had to this time no badges. Only the 3.rd step he got later or not ?

in many books you can see this badge as a reproduction.
You can see a good story about the Sniper Badges with pictures
in the "International Militaria Magazin Juni-Juli 2005"
