    Josef 'Sepp' Allerberger... Sniper Badge(Niemann).

    Today from DN update

    Josef 'Sepp' Allerberger lot. Detlev Niemann... Sold for 1500 euros in seconds after update. I myself tried with out luck to purchase. I am not a expert on these sniperbadges.... But this kind of items attached to a famous sniper like Allerberger... I guess that it where a very VERY good deal for a happy buyer.

        I'm not liking that badge (thread, stitching, pattern, color), or the attribution to Allerberger, what is the provenance? 1500 euro? Right..

        Detlev always seems to sell these patches with the cord/stitched borders missing.

          Be thankful you missed out on this piece. The sniper badge is a well known fake produced in Germany in the 80's. Documented in Cyrus Lee's book on reproductions.

              It seems like same style as pictured in his catalog. I guess that there are a reason why his items sale that fast on his site, and he is one of the sellers that I trust. One of the worlds best experts. But ofcourse I can not comment on originality and if it where not DN I would not have tried to purchase without more documentation.

              Soo can not really comment much on your information, but ofcourse interesting.... have any pics from the book to post???

                I won't be posting the pictures from the book. I did it once before and ended up arguing with someone who still thought that a book published 20 years ago to document fakes was not enough! I am telling you that piece of crap is a fake. But, do whatever you want.

                  You wanted to invest in a rare, controversial badge like this, but have no comments as to its originality? Not wise. Nor is basing the originality of a piece on the blind faith of a dealer.

                  If you truly are interested in Sniper badges, I suggest doing ALLOT of researching, not only with known vet pick up originals, but the PLETHORA of fakes.

                  And as you stated, Detlev is extremely knowledgeable, therefore I find it really hard to believe this could be a mistake....

                        Trust is a very good way to get screwed in this hobby. You need to trust in your own knowledge, not a dealer.

                          OK good to hear, that he is alive. Hope he is also in good health.... It could be interesting if someone knows the man. In general it would be fantastic if a veteran could ad any information on a rare badge like this...

                            DN have a good reputation, that why I trust him.... But ofcourse even the best is not right everytime. If something is wrong with the lot I am sure its a mistake. The reputation is everything for a good dealer.

                            If the lot is good or not I can not comment, but I trust the dealer to be good and honest, like many other custemors. That is all that I am saying....

                              There is no proof this was A.´s stuff: The signed fotos are around, for cheap money.
                              Allerberger wore a EKII only, thats correct - but if they cannot get him a KC, how should they find the ribbon only in spriing of 1945, to add to the EKII???
