if someone has a documented original i would like to see close ups to compare. From what I understand these are uncommon and were often not maker marked? I have looked at a few reference books and there are many matching attributes with this one, and it has good detail. Nice weight as well. Feel free to PM photos if you prefer.
Hi,
I have an original I purchased several years ago from Wolfe-Hardin. Unfortunately, my C-mas gift will be a new digital camera and until I get it, am unable to send photos from my collection. My main observation deals with the bones. All of the originals I have seen have a space or gap between the wreath and bones that protrude from the skull. The eyes and nose cutouts are crisp and clean. I have never seen one stamped 800 (silver content). That doesn't mean that one doesn't exist however. I have only seen several original Condor Lgn Tank Badges. This is just my 2 cents worth. The last one I saw sold at a MAX Show went for over $4000.

Thanks Chuck! Welcome to the forum. Not sure where the gap shoudl be that you refer to. the skull would have to connect to the wreath somewhere to hold it in place? Anyway maybe others will also chime in. I also understand that these were manufactured by several different sources i think. It will be great once you have a camera! Sounds like you have some very nice pieces. I may be mailing some items to Wolfe and Hardin shortly.
Hi
I'm actually trying to determine if one that I have is real - it matches photos I've seen but has had a sunburst backing added on (privately?).
I have someone absolutely convinced it is real and someone else who tells me it is one of a series of copies that began making their rounds in the '70s.
This is my first post so I guess that is why I can't show a photo of it.
Anyone got any insight based on any of the above? Or can anyone point me to somewhere I can have it definitively (de)authenticated?
I will have to take new pics and do my own side by side comparison with Brian S example in that post. All the badges in that post seem to have a rough finish on the back around the eye sockets and the nose. I'll look also for the dimples and pimples shall we say that were pointed out in that thread.
Clearly these spark some discussion and controversy. But I do like what I see in regards to the one I posted and the one that Brian S posted. Right down to matching hinge and pin shape.
Oh and went back and looked again and I have the same catch as the one Brain S shows. The plot thickens...
That was the last old photo I had available right now. I love my ipod, (back up hard drive)
I can take more photos when I get home this weekend. What I also want to confirm is if the back side of the bow at the bottom right tip appears to have been repaired on mine as well much like the shot that Brian S posted.
