I am not qualified to even speculate but...

where would YOU put the 800 stamp on a hollow badge?

Appreciate your comments but fakes modeled after originals do exist. They exist as cast pieces with solid backs.
      Dear Brian,

You must have been sleeping. Almost perfect fakes modeled after existing original hollow badges do exist and they do NOT have solid backs. From the obverse alone, one would NOT be able to differentiate THIS GAB fake here from the corresponding original, a BH Mayer type GAB. I could go on with other recent hollow badge fake creations, PABs, IABs...

I bet most people could not even detect it as a fake if a reverse pic is added. About this fake, one could easily say "absolutely correct hinge for a 40ies badge:"

If you would compare this badge to an obverse picture in a BH Mayer catalogue (if there would be a known example of such a 40ies catalogue), it would be a PERFECT match. Catch my drift?

Ah yes. Fake GAB, fake LCTB. Makes sense to me.

Ok, I am quite the diplomate most of the time. Let me be nasty too:

If the very same badge like my rare LC PAB type would have been found with the STASH of high end fakes presented by Alex on this forum, I would be very worried. At least, I would start to reopen the discussion about this type LC PAB. My comment to this reopened discussion is to be found in post#34 in this thread. That is all I have to say about this badge and the alleged "proof" in the Schickle catalogue. The catalogue is a great discovery and is not doubted at all here.
                Cheers, Frank

After reading your posts I would hesitate to consider ANYTHING as real. They can ALL be keenly copied by "high end" fakers. Make a few of the expensive ones, make lots of the lower end pieces.

Oh, I catch the drift. Mine is a fake. Thank you.
I must be hard to understand. I just showed you why your badge MAY not be "100%" original. Pointing a finger on a picture in a wartime catalogue and saying "this looks exactly like mine" is not 100% proof that the item is original, even if every little blurry spot is the same. The fake I showed you PROVES that. I never said your badge was fake, but you have to rethink the way how to prove items to be 100% original.

But what can YOU do to prove it's a match?
Having it tested for massive 800 silver content would be a start.

                            We'll test...

Sorry, I spoke "out of school" in presuming I could determine authenticity. Not my place.

I am sure you can, and I respect your opinion when you think these are original. It is your badge. I personally am rather doubtful, you just have to respect that too. I am doubtful of the badge and the method used to make it "100%."
