Hello Ivan,
As we seem to have come to some conclusion on the JFS GAB 75 badge, maybe it is time now to discuss your hollow version of the GAB 75, could you please post a pic of the back, these seem to be much rarer than the solid type
At first glance yours seems to be suspect, as we have just discussed the longer box, yours has this but also the wide gap near the top of the bayonet, and the number does not seem right, refer to Detlev's book page 495, his example has none of the points I have just mentioned.
If anybody else has one of the hollow back types could they please post some pics, this is a badge seldom seen.
Regards,
Anthony
Yes, the hollow version is much more rare then the solid one!
About the example of Detlev's book I must to say to you that, even if is not specify, we can see the left 75's example sohwn in the book is a solid type and right is hollow.
The number of my 75 is MUST TO BE FOR AN HOLLOW TYPE and, as you can see yourself, is different from the solid badges ( numbers are differents in panzer hollow too and GAB 25 and 50 too).
You can see to page 492 of Detlev's book again panzer 75's badge to left side a solid type and right side an hollow type.
there are no doubts mine is an original one.

Hi,
We need to make sure we keep comparing "apples to apples" here, so comparing Ivan's semi-hollow 75 GAB example with a long box does not make a 25/50 GAB with a long box genuine.
When it comes to the solid JFS 75/100 pattern GAB, Anthony's example is the only example I would be comfortable with. I do not believe in variations on this solid JFS marked badge - zero tolerance on the wreath/eagle details/profile (therefore no low numbered box for me and I don't like Frank's example - I seem to recall which dealer this came from and I did not like it at the time for the same reason), a very tight tolerance on measurements but some tolerance (a few grams) on weight.
When talking about the 25/50 pattern solid GABs, I too believe that the long numbered box examples are very good repros. I apply the same tolerance criteria as outlined above. One interesting thing, having compared textbook RK and JFS marked 25/50 GABs, the obverse of the wreath and the eagles on these badges to me appear to be the same.
I'll load some images of what I believe to be the repro 25/50 pattern RK GAB (the images are not mine, so if the owners of the images object I'll pull them).

Mike K
Frank, I am sorry but if you look the rivets and the closing hook, are identicals as yours ( no good sign). the J of your mark have problem.

Thanks, Ivan, I didn´t see that until you pointed it out.
Now for some more questions before I can rest and bring the badge back. They may seem stupid but I want an honest answer.
-do we know these additional examples shown by Mike K (including my badge) are fakes? Or are we just uncomfortable with them because of the different features? Is something known about the origin of these? Again, not clutching at straws, I just want to know the facts about these "variants" if any are known. Makes it easier to bring it back.
-can somebody supply me with the measurements of a textbook badge, so I can compare with the measurements I have taken?
-what is the badge I called "Anthony 2" in my comparison (the SECOND badge Anthony posted) which shows even other features than the textbook examples or my example?

Hi Mike,
When I bought my badge it was professionally weighed and measured, it also came with a certificate of originality and life time garantee, so it is easy to guess where it came from!!
As you thought the measurements that Frank has given of his badge are different, while the width and height are close, the Eagle is smaller as you thought, and the weight is CONSIDERABLE different, a major factor.
I do not wish to give out the full details of my badge for the obvious reason, for this I am sorry Frank, but that's just the way it is.

Dear Anthony,
I can understand you do not want to give this info here, but maybe you can email it to me. You have my address.
It will help me when I return the badge.
Thanks to all who participated, especially to the one collector who contacted me in private with more info, much appreciated.
You learn something new every day. To all the collectors who look into buying one of these: be careful, these "non-textbook" badges fool you easily.

Frank I hope the "refund" goes smooth for you. I had to wait about three months for credit to my card. But I did get a full refund of course minus shipping.

Just an update:
My JFS 75 badge in question now goes back to the dealer, who was very understanding and even apologized. I will get a refund in the form of a "voucher" of the same amount I spent for the badge. That´s fair.
Thanks to all who participated and helped me with this either here on the forum or in private mails.
Cheers, FrankCheers, Frank
