Looks caste to me, not of my liking........

    Comment

I have owned a number of ostvolks this last few years an IMO the solid back ones without rope are totally original and you often find these with a very nice glossy finish. The solid back ones with rope are later manufacture I believe, I don't think I've seen one of these that look wartime and they tend to have that much thinner suspension which appears to be associated with 57 issue.
Here is a bronze sans rope I sold on the estand a little while ago- 100% period

Did anybody notice that all the non rope examples shown are of the 2nd class in bronze with swords? As is my only one of this type.

Really coming in late to this discussion, but would like to add a bit and continue to solicit more input.

Here are some that I have acquired through the years.

Here are two 2nd class Bronze without swords a little closer.

One is without the rope, and one has the rope.

Both are clearly maker marked on the ring....100.

)You will note in the group picture above, there is a third 2nd class Bronze without swords that is without the rope, but is not marked on the ring)

The maker marks...100...closer on both medals:

And also note a 2nd class in Silver.

No maker mark on this one.

One of the 2nd class in Silver has a maker mark that I cannot discern.

Perhaps someone could help on this?

Also of interest is the 1st Class Awards are in two different shaped cases.

One has rounded corners, while the other has square corners.

The Awards in these different Cases have different catches, as does the one with swords in the case.

Here is the award without swords in the rounded cornered case:

This catch set-up matches the award in the late war envelope:
