    Beautiful eagle John ! .
Seen that colour thread used in lots of FJ items.

Though I have had a slow time finding smock eagles, ther last two I have found have been of this style. This was a lucky find at the Allentown show, and for the price of a good cigar! Grey thin cotton backing, not HBT, as encountered on late war water pattern smocks. Have not yet seen one on a splinter smock. John, have you?

        A unique backing.

This one has been sewn on and still has a few green threads. My other one has tan thread attached.

          Hi Willi,

Nice eagle! Yes, have only seen these on tan/water smocks, and most often on tan/waters of heavy gabardine.

At the price of a good cigar!? Great, I'll trade you a Cohbia Esplendidos for it.

Two of them came out of my local town. Both were cut from tan/water smocks. I always thought that was a strange co-incidence. Willi, I believe one of yours came from the UK recently too !
            Here is mine:

            Regards,

                This one arrived yesterday.
Well worn wool backed eagle on thin splinter duck.

                  Great find John!

Steve, I missed your additions to this thread. Is that a new find? Yes, one of mine recently came from the UK. And, one on water also came from the UK.

This is a wonderful thread, thought I'd add my two cents, or in this case two birds.

                        Cheers,

What are the price values of these type of eagles?

Real "rough-cuts". Any history with them ?
