Thanks Bill. I'm posting more pics of the same Para in #865 (curly hair-no cap). The first posting, he's located on the left side in both photos.

and here's the reverse to the pic of him sitting on a garden bench (EK1 & Para badge). I know we've talked about ID'ing soldiers when possible so I scanned the back to this one in hopes that it might hold the clue to this Para's identity. The feeble inscription is hard to decipher. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

                footwear?

Hi guys just a quick question about pic #869, the guy second from the right, what is he wearing on his feet? Is he wearing ankle boots with gaitors? or is that band around his ankles from his trousers? what do you uniform guys think.

                Cheers

Cheers Bill, thought so , but also thought that it was unlikely at this time in the war. Judging by the pic and seeing that they are all low ranks and are all parachute trained, I wouldn't have put it any later than late 43 - early 44, and you don't see many pics of fallschirmjager wearing low boots and gaitors, mainly very late war (post d-day).

On another subject what do you guys think of this pic taken in the cassino area in 2004!

                        Bill & Chuck,

Some nice photos there, I though I would post a couple before shooting off again this week, just to keep the thread ticking over.
