I have seen several examples with khakibraun backings. Also pilot, observer, and radio operator with these backings. IMHO all were obvious fakes. Steve once posted one on WA, perhaps he still has the photos on file.

Have never seen or heard of an original tropical one.

Here are my favorites. Subdued wreaths with the bottom one being a padded badge.
