Thank you for the reply, everything is wrong with this helmet can you elaborate on the areas that you mention! So I can understand and learn to spot the fakes in the future. Any info is appreciated. Thank you again Bill
Bill, it would be easier to pull up a thread on a real para helmet and compare. Just to give you a few things -

    - the shell has the wrong angle and shape to the skirt and the bottom rim
    - the rolled rim should have a groove all the way around the inner edge
    - the decal is not the correct design of a real Luft decal
    - the leather liner has incorrect stitching on the seam across the top
    - some of the vent holes in the leather are not the correct size
    - the chinstrap has the wrong color and stitching
    - the snap on the chinstrap is the wrong size and wrong markings
    - the paint on the outside of the helmet looks to be artificially aged

Again, none of this means much unless you have pictures of a real one to compare this one to but if you search you will find numerous threads showing real para helmets. Then just compare the points above between the two. Good luck!

    Cheers,
    Terry

        German Paratrooper Helmet 12-04-2016

This helmet looks authentic. Could I have your opinion please. Description is:

        WW2 German paratrooper/fallschirmjager helmet made by CkL71 bno:4223

Second pattern, later war, stamped sheet steel construction, paratrooper helmet retains about 95% of its slightly rough textured field-grey,green paint. All four of the liner retention spanner bolts are intact and consist of the later, solid, steel type. The interior of the helmet has a M38 (browned out) leather liner, which is fully intact with a central stitched seam, twelve circular ventilation holes and black rubber padding to the helmet band (late war steel liner ring) and the interior crown. The liner is well marked with black inkstamped sizing, "Kopfweite Gr. 59 Stahlhaube Gr. 71" (Head size 59, {referring to the liner} Shell size 71). The lining also has additional black inkstamps that include the designers name and location, "Baumuster: Heisler Berlin C2", and the manufacturers name and location, "Hersteller: F.W. Müller jr". The reverse interior apron is well marked with stamped serial number, "4223" and the stamped manufacturers code and size, "CKl71", indicating manufacture by Eisen-und Hüttenwerke, AG Thale/Harz, size 71. The helmet comes complete with a blue/grey leather construction, dual "Y" pattern chin harness. The chin harness is fully intact and the leather is still quite supple. Nice cleaned and cared helmet.

42 bids and 25 bidders. Even with all the information available on what originals look like, you still have so many fools bidding on such a poor fake.
