This is all I have on the last unit shown:

    Leichte Reserve-Flak-Abteilung 765

Formed Summer 1940 in Luftgau XI with 3 Batteries; Renamed leichte Flak-Abteilung 765 (v) since Summer 1943,lastly with 4 Batteries (4 from 5./322); Action near Boulogne (Flak Regiment 132, 16 Flak Division, lastly in Luftgau

Nothing regarding Dunkirk, however Flak units can be difficult sometimes to find correct info on!

I have found reference to Flak Regiment 29 being Flakgruppe Dünkirchen, however not after August of 1944!
le.Flak Abt. 765 was part of this Regiment around that time....

I will see if I can find anything else.....

Could have moved around and the sources may not be correct, for exaple he was 4(?) Batterie of the unit...that could well have been only Battery there and the remains might have retreated to Germany!

He was an Oberleutnant so that puts him as Batterie Chef/Führer or a Staff Officer within the Battery.

          Yes, Anti Aircraft

          Nice looking book actually!

Yes he would more than likely be a PoW at that time.....this again is not uncommon as many where "promoted" in PoW camps...that way they would get more money! How many were legit god knows .........

                    Soldbuch Dünkirchen

                    Hello Douglynn and Ian,

I discovered this article yesterday and I made some researches.

Your document is interesting because the holder of this Soldbuch was in the Festung Dünkirchen, this is certain. Regrettably, a very sly person distorted this original document by adding the following text (Berechtigt zum Tragen des Mützenabzeichens) on the stamp of the control which appears on the page 23 of most of the Soldbuch of the Festung Dünkirchen.

First of all, I confirm the different Ian's information and I clarify that according to the Wolfgang's Dierich book " Die Verbände der Luftwaffe 1935-1945 " page 503, the following unity : leichte Flakabteilung 765 was well in the Festung Dünkirchen.

Let us return in this stamp of control representing on the page 23. You will find in appendix an image of an identical document. Do I still possess another example but the size of the image does not allow me to present it (Ian here could maybe help me to reduce it ?). The same page, the same stamp and the same date. The various registrations known about the Dünkirchenschild or Mützenschild do not represent on a stamp a control but most of the time on a paper (size of the Soldbuch) stuck on the end of the document. It is the second time that I notice this addition on the stamp of control of the Festung Dünkirchen. The first document was presented in it n° 108 of the German magazine IMM (Iternationales Militaria-Magazin). Regrettably the very known author Manfred Dörr was also deceived by this addition. You will find an image of this article in appendix (same page, same stamp and the same date 18.03.45 !!!).

With regard to the Dünkirchenschild or rather the Mützenschild Dünkirchen, this badge well existed and was produced in small quantity. The various formalities of reception of this badge are unknown. Several diplomas delivered to soldiers of the Festung Dünkirchen indicate V. B. Abzeichen, Stosstruppabzeichen or Kampfschulabzeichen. Is it about the Dünkirchenschild ?

To end, I wish to make known in numerous reader of this Internet site a magnificent and rare discovery made for the Dunkerque, in a cellar. A group of about 10 Soldbuch was discovered in a cellar of the city. A person whom I know bought these documents. On the 10 documents, 2 documents carry the registration : Mützenschild with the date of 16.02.45 and 20.02.45.

I shall not miss to hold you in the course of this discovery. I possess images of these documents but I promised to his owner to make use of it strictly personal. In the near future, I am going to take contact with him to allow me to take advantage of it this forum.

                    Cordial greetings.

                    Polux

                                Soldbuch Dünkirchen

                                Ian,

Thank you very much to have reduced the above presented image. As usually, always there to give a help, still thank you.

                                Douglynn,

The paper appearing on the page 23 of your document is authentic, any doubt. To highlight this document which was already very interesting, a person only added some words which represent above the stamp Fstgs. Kdtr. Dünkirchen
                                .

I clarify once more that the paper which appears on the page 23 of most of the Soldbuch of the various unities which were in the Festung Dünkirchen
is only a paper on which appears a stamp of control, this in the unique date of March 18, 1945. Once stuck in the Soldbuch, this paper was countersigned by the commander of the unity to which belonged the holder of the document.

The paper which is stuck on the page 23 of your Soldbuch was signed by the leader of batterie of the unity into which it was incorporated.

The paper which is stuck on the page 23 of the Soldbuch which appears in the n° 24 of this article was signed by the commander of the unity, is an Oberzahlmeister because it is about an unity of subsistence (Festung-Versorgungs-Kompanie Dünkirchen
                                ).

The paper which is stuck on the page 23 of the Soldbuch which appears in the n° 29 of this article was signed by the leader of the unity (unknown Kampfgruppe, Kompanie Worch). Regrettably the date was erased by the humidity.

This short enumeration indicates that the paper representing on the page 23 is a stamp of control and not the confirmation of some merit or of decoration.

                                Cordial greetings.
