This is a neat Soldbuch that I would love to have in my Dunkirk related items collection.

My Dad fought overthere from the End of 1944 to the Liberation.

He get one of those Mützenabzeichen but I never found it at home.

He found it on a Bergmütze which was in a middle of a pile of uniforms and gears at the End of the Festung.

Hopefully, I did find some of his old comrades. I was in contact with one of them ; he was sick and then he passed away. I did not asked for anything but his widow sent me his medal and few badges that he collected in the Festung.
I was more than mad when I found in the middle of the lot, the shield I was searching at home.

When, I showed it to my dad he just said : "Well, it is not the same... it was bigger !"

        I finally get mine !

One of my last addition in my collection is this nice Obergefreiter' Soldbuch related to Dunkirk.

Max Weber was in the AR 296 (296.ID) and then ended in the 226.ID (I./AR 226 and then GR 1040 - Lt.Heldehe).

He was KIA on 10th February 1945 during Operation BLÜCHER.
Germans took Pont-de-Spycker and Malhof as well as 89 POWS.
Their losses were 100 men. Max Weber was one of them.

              Hello JYN,

Nice Soldbuch. Could you please tell me if the recepients photo is still on the inside cover? Also, on page 23 I am curious about the little paper signed by his company commander. Is there any writing on the back?

              Regards

The Soldbuch never had any photo and the little paper has been glued on the top of the page. Nothing is written on the back !

                    Hi Jyn,

Cann't find the article back at the moment, but I must have it somewhere around here.

No this one not by Uboat !!!!
This is a very rare postalpiece, and high priced too.
As post was also done by smallbattle-units, this one you have is done by radio - Funk, transmitted out the Festung - picked up by another station and then the message (they all were short ones) was typed on the paper you have an send to the family or other receiver.

Only seen them in books, and now this one for the first time in collectors hands.

                    yours
                    Eric-Jan Bakker

When there are others with such postalhistory please show it on the forum.

                          Eric,

To be frank , I had a doubt. It is all clear in my mind now.

                            Hi guys,

Does it makes sense to have in a soldbuch an award stamped by the Festung-Stamm. LXXXI (FpNr 57544) in March 1945 for a man of the GR.1042 ?
