Not convinced the photos are him though!
At some stage this Soldbuch has been put back together. I have examples myself and corresponded with a few vets as to why this happened.....you can see clearly on the awards pages that they have been folded at some time....when asked I was told told they ripped these pages out and kept them hidden, at a later stage they got their Soldbuch back or it was not taken from them in the first plase, so they simply put them back in or repaired their books!!!
Removal of the unit page for DAK books is common however.

That was good to read about the information on the back of the photos matching up with the Soldbuch! Would be interesting to learn the story behind his transfer from the Infantry to Pz Aufklr!
From the British POW doc Schliefer correctly remembered that his unit was last attached to the 21st Pz Division before surrender. Prior to this Pz Aufklr Abt 580 had spent almost all of it's time with the DAK as part of the 90th Light Division.

Well, if you're really that concerned then you might want to consider asking Scott and "MisterX" to have a moderator remove the scans of the photo they posted (before you owned it) in this thread where it has happily resided for the last 4+ years:
http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&highlight=559
The scan I have in my archive was downloaded from that very thread back in 2008 and as there is no watermark on the portrait and I do not keep tabs on what you currently own I had no idea a copy of the portrait now resides in your collection.
Seeing as how the scan I have was made by someone else before you even owned the photo I don't see why I should have to remove it, however if you really want it deleted from this thread where a cropped version was used to help contribute to the discussion, I have absolutely no problem with that.
Best,
Rob
