    It also could include money and bottles of wine/champagne...no doubt what was available at the time!

    I have some letters somewhere regarding the issue and contents of a Führerpake.

    Jeff actually wrote an article on his webpage some time ago about them!

      thanks for the xplanations,i knew already some of the stuff you just said but i meant,what did he have to do to earn it?I dont think he got it with every leave he took(at least looking through my soldbucher didnt look like that).

          Daniele,
          The Fuhrerpaket was issued to returning non-wounded soldiers at specific main train stations (I have a list somewhere). It was issued to men on-leave from areas outside of Germany. They could be on leave, military escorts of transport convoys, those awarded a medal for heoism, or those that had a family bombed out. Wounded soldiers were issued a "Sonderlebensmittlekarte" which they received at the hospital and contained money and coupons to recieve the Fuhrerpaket when they reached Germany. Sometimes you may also see an entry in the Soldbuch "for Infantry Kampfer."
